Grandma R. Has Passed On To Everlasting Life

Grandma R. passed away this morning at age 94. I am so thankful that I was able to spend time with her a few weeks ago. It has been many years since I have actually seen her but I have talked to her on the phone. Our trip back to MI for Sean and Megan's wedding seemed like perfect timing for me to start my vacation earlier than the rest of the family and go with Dad and Mom to MN. I am wondering now if maybe there was some "divine intervention" there! I was able to visit and spend quality time with Grandma which was great because she had been having some problems with confusion lately.

Grandma lives in a very small town (approx 4,000 residents) in MN. This is where she grew up, married and started her family. And this same small town is where her and my Grandpa wanted to spend their "golden" years. A lot of her friends in that town will mourn her death as well as her family.

Love ya, Grandma!

Graduation Gift For Missy From Grandpa and Grandma R.

Grandma R made a quilt for Missy. I have to explain a little about this "blankie". Missy received her first one of this kind at birth. It became her special blankie because of the lace and it's softness. It went every where with her. So over the years Grandma R has made replacements.

#1 came at her birth

#2 came on her 10th birthday

#3 came on her senior year of highschool

#4 came now on her graduation from junior college

Friday- May 9th Megan and Sean's Wedding Ceremony

I left West Michigan on Thursday and drove over to the Detroit area to pick up Phil and Mike. They had flown in that afternoon from AZ. Friday was Megan and Sean's wedding. The wedding was wonderful and the bride was beautiful! The ceremony started at 5pm and the reception was at 7:30pm at the same place. It was great for us to get to see as many family members as we did. Damian and Missy couldn't fly in until after the wedding on Saturday because Missy had her graduation ceremony from junior college Friday night. She now has her AA degree in Criminal Justice and will be starting up at ASU in the fall.

Pics of brother Bill and Tamara's New Little Anja!

Dad, Mom and I stopped at Bill and Tam's house on my way from the airport last Thursday. They had arrived home the day before from Russia where they and their son Soren went to pic up their new daughter from Russia. Anja turned 2 years old in January. She is just adorable!

Visit to Cheese Shop Outside Madison, WI

On the way back to MI this morning, we stopped at a cheese shop called Ehlenbach's Cheese Chalet, just outside Madison, WI. Dad and Mom have been stopping there for years. I bought some cranberry white cheddar, horseradish white cheddar, caraway swiss and garlic/dill curds to bring back to MI.

Trip To MN- Linda, Dad and Mom

I flew into MI on Thurs, 5/1 and early Friday morning we took off to MN to visit Grandma R in the nursing home. It's been many years since I've made it back to MN, so I am so glad that we made this trip. Grandma just celebrated her 94th birthday a few months ago. The attached pics are of Grandma R in the nursing home along with Uncle Allan, Aunt Bettie, cousin Leigh, wife Shelly, their girls and my nephew Benjamin.

It was a quick trip, a full three days there along with two travel days. It's Tuesday night now and we are back in MI. I'll be here until Thursday when I drive to the other side of the state to pick up Phil and Mike up from the airport. We will be @ Megan's wedding Friday night and then Damian and Missy fly in on Saturday and we all will be spending time with family on both sides of the state. Stay tuned for more updates!
