It's a Blast From the Past- 1967 That Is!

A friend of Phil's, Mike, dropped by this afternoon in his refurbished 1967 Camaro SS. You can hear it coming from down the road. It's got a 454 engine that's been bored out .060 oversize and it's got nearly 700HP. Quite a beauty it is! What's crazy, is how well Mike takes care of it. He said that he had that car down to the nuts, bolts and bare steel! And rebuilt the whole thing. He has a separate 3 bay garage that houses this vehicle, where it sits up on jacks when not in use. After
each ride he takes it home and cleans it off from top to bottom before it is put away! Phil got to drive it this afternoon and came home with such a big grin on his face. Must be a "guy" thing!

Do you Know Where Your Husband Is????

Mine is in bed! Per my earlier posting, Phil didn't get home until 7:30am this morning. See how light it is in the bedroom, hopefully his eyes will keep tightly shut and he won't notice that it is daylight!!!! I did get out of him that his guys got the job finished and it was delivered to the customer. Boy, it ought to be fun getting to sleep tonight for him. (Hopefully, he won't notice this posting, since he probably wouldn't appreciate this view. He just wouldn't understand why I thought this was so darn cute!)

Missy's High School Reunion

Missy had a great time @ her reunion. The event started @ 6:30pm and around midnight her group decided to keep it going so they went to a club in Scottsdale. A lot of her friends who still live locally didn't go. But some did and others came in from CA, NM, etc.

Ginger's Baby Shower

Today was Ginger's shower. Missy and I got out on the road about 10am. First stop coffee and a few other stops for essentials and we were on our way up to north Scottsdale. The baby shower was from 12pm to 3pm (pretty much on schedule). Lots of women, lots of good food and really no games to speak of. Hurray!!!! We did have to write down everything that we saw in a big bowl that went around about 1 hour earlier! We also picked up colored bandanas on the way in and later the same colored bandanas had to get together in a group to design a onesy (sp?) There were some very talented women there today. We had to scoot out pretty quick after the gift opening so that Missy could get home to ready herself for her "10" Year High School Reunion. Pics will hopefully follow tomorrow from her evening! When we left this morning Phil was getting ready to head into work. He had mentioned that this weekend would be crazy and sure enough! I got a call from him about 8pm this evening and he said that he probably wouldn't be home until around 5am Sunday morning! He's getting way to old for this!!!! We don't have any room darkening drapes in any of our rooms but hopefully the light from outside won't prohibit him getting a good "days" sleep!

Prep For Ginger's Baby Shower

Tomorrow is Ginger's baby shower and Missy and I have been asked to bring a few items. I am making potato salad for 55 guests and Missy is making a dip and chips. I am also contributing 3 bottles of champagne for the punch (champagne, ginger-ale and sherbet). All the guests have been asked to bring a book each for the beginning of a library for baby boy, JC. He is due for his arrival in the middle of December. The shower has a western theme so that's the reason for the cowboy hat on the gift!

Happy Birthday Ann! Hurray, for the Sisterhood!

Tonight we celebrated Ann's 64th birthday! We met at Texas Roadhouse and had a great time visiting with one another. Two (Ann and Sadie) of the six of us are retired and the other four (Sharon, Dixie, Marty and myself) of us work together. Ann and Sadie have been gone from SMI for at least 6 years but we have stayed friends and make a point of celebrating our birthdays together. Lot's of laughs always!!!! We certainly don't do as much as we should but we do make sure that we don't lose our friendships with each other. We'll also meet for movies, coffee and shopping. You just have to make time!!!
We range in age from 41 yrs up to 73 yrs old, and have found, though we are in different stages of our lives, we have so much in common. The youngest of us no longer has her kids at home, the oldest of us has her granddaughter living with her. Three of our group have lost their husbands to death, the most recent in August. We have come from all over the country (CT, TX, AR, CO, and NM) and all met out here at work. The shortest friendship started 15 years ago for me and the longest friendship started over 30 years ago for me. We have seen each other thru alot with our kids, work, etc!!!! Hurray, for our friendship!!!!

Hooray!!!!!! Fall Arrived Today in AZ

Temperatures are down outside today, around 79 degrees- so windows and doors are open. Temps tonight should be in the very low 60's, maybe high 50's. No air conditioning! Casey is in her most favorite spot in the house- at the front door watching the world go by! New buds are coming out on the trees. And I am getting that nesting feeling- Homemade pinto and ham hock soup and fresh homemade french bread. Got to love this time of year!!!!!!

Autumn Gifts!

This morning I met and had coffee with a very good friend of mine- Sandy, who I have known for the past 33 years. We were at the counter grabbing our iced mochas and apple/cinnamon scones and I thought that I better grab my camera. When I reached into my purse for the camera I realized that my battery was dead, so no pic for the blog. Anyway, we had a very nice 2 1/2 hour visit. Where else can you comfortably sit and visit out than at a coffee shop. We've gone out to lunch before and always feel as if the waitress wants us to leave after our food is gone. This was so much nicer. Sandy had a beautifully wrapped package for me. She baked pumpkin-cranberry-walnut bread. She also had hidden under the ribbon on the package 2 buckeyes that had come from Illinois. She said that they are for good luck, so I needed to polish them on my shirt and carry them in my purse. I did take pics of the bread once I got home!
