Another Week That Has Come and Gone!

This is our past week in review:

Monday- Phil was rear ended on his way home from work. He was sitting at a red light and a fellow going about 40 miles an hour just plowed into him. The guy was in a new work vehicle (Ford Escape Hybrid) and was not used to driving it. Phil has been contacted by a number of people at this guys work now so it should be going in the shop soon.

Tuesday night, Missy and I went over to Mike's so that she could submit her FAFSA paperwork for 2010 ASU on Mike's computer. Seems like the government isn't current on their system requirements. Both Missy and I have Windows 2007 and they are not compatible. You have to have Windows XP or older!

Friday- Sharon and I met Sadie for lunch. Had our usual bean burro enchilada style with green sauce. Wonderful as always! We made plans to meet Sadie for lunch and a movie on the 24th for Sadie's 75th birthday!!! Friday night Missy was at the emergency room with a burst ovarian cyst. Don was at the hospital with her. When they released her, she was still on morphine so we did some car swapping. Luckily she had gone to the hospital just a few miles from our house. She went home with Don and he nursed her all day Saturday.

Saturday- Phil worked all day and I had my annual eye app't in the morning. Since Phil is in so much pain with his knee, he had been driving his truck instead of the little Miata back and forth to work. Since his truck is out of commission he took mine so I had the little car. I was a little nervous but all went well. It was only the third time that I have driven it. Once before with Missy and the other time with Mom.

Sunday- I went with Missy to have her taxes done and Phil went and picked up Herb for breakfast and then over to a car show in Tempe. His buddy Mike has a classic car and was part of the show. In the afternoon, Don and his kids came over to fly kites and shoot pool. Actually the kite flying was a bust. No wind, not even a breeze! Believe it or not, it had been windy for the past few days straight. Go figure! Brody (6yrs old) loves to shoot pool, so Don and him played. Asia (almost 4 yrs old) is all girl so she enjoyed a tea party. She even got Phil to sit down with her. They stayed for dinner, and then left around 8pm. Casey was a real good girl with them. I was sooo proud of her.

Another Beautiful Day in AZ- No Snow Here!

This weekend was just beautiful! Phil had hoped to take Herb for a drive in the little car with the top down on Saturday but Herb was feeling a bit under the weather. Hopefully, they can get out next weekend and enjoy a drive out of the valley. Since Phil wasn't out for a drive, Mike came over Saturday and they did a front brake job on Mike's car. His back brakes will be next.

Today, Phil back washed the pool and then we went and did some shopping. After that we dropped by Mike's for a visit. His new dog Taylor is getting so big. And "old man" Rocky just tolerates her.

Another Marine Has Made It Home Safely!

My friend Sharon's son-in -law Anthony got back from Afganistan last week. Sharon's daughter Kristin, delivered their first baby just days before he got back to Camp Pendleton. Kristin, baby Kalina and her mother-in-law drove over to CA to be there when he arrived. Anthony has a few days off so came back to AZ to visit family and friends before he needs to report back to his base. Anthony will be serving in the Marines until sometime in 2011. He told me that he is really disappointed how the news portrays whats going on over there because they are really making a difference. God Bless Our Troops and Keep Them Safe From Harm's Way!

Dinner With the Family

Phil picked up Matt and John Thursday night and brought them back to our house for dinner. They were in town from Detroit for a few days visit. We sat down to spaghetti, garlic bread and salad. For desert later we had a chocolate pudding pie with mini peanut butter cups in side and whipped cream on top. (there went the diet!) Julie and Justin came over shortly after dinner. Julie brought over some fresh banana nut bread. We had a very nice visit and quite a few good long laughs along the way as well!
(I have got to figure out my camera. Some of my pictures come out blurry and others come out real clear. I just haven't figured it out yet!)

Very Pleasant "Busy" Saturday!!

This morning started at 8am over at IHOP. Missy and I met Julie for breakfast. We haven't connected with her since Mike's Christmas party. We had a very nice visit and decided that we should definitely do it more often. From the restaurant, Missy headed off to work and Julie and I headed over to my favorite coffee shop.

Around noon, Phil and I went over to Mesa's Red Mountain Adobe Multigenerational Center for their annual Scandinavian Springfest. Lots and lots of gray hairs! The gymnasium was filled with vendors with wares from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden. In another very large room they had traditional folk dancing from all 5 countries and food to buy. Phil couldn't even "pretend" to be a Swede for a day with me and have some lefse or fruit suppa. As a matter of fact, he was pretty darn hungry and chose not to partake. We stopped at Wendy's!

After Wendy's, we headed to our 2pm app't with our CPA. Tax time you know!!! Not as bad as I was expecting, thank goodness!

Missy's car has been sitting in our driveway for the past week with unknown problems. She's been borrowing Phil's truck all week, which has been driving Phil nuts, since he knows how many miles she puts on her car in one day. Her 2005, Nissan Sentra had 141,000 miles on it. Anyway, after our tax app't we dropped by a couple of dealers to see what she could get for cheap, yet dependable. We ended up at my Mitsubishi dealer, and found a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt with 30,000 miles on it, for only $8,500. Perfect, like new condition, so called Missy to meet us over there. Long story short, we didn't get home until 8:30pm tonight, over 12 hours since I had left this morning, but Missy is now driving her new car. She was in the finance mgr's office at 8:00pm and he told her that this was the first and only sale of the day! That was kinda sad to hear. I love that dealership- everyone is just so genuinely nice, no pushy sales people!
