Weekend Happenings!

Coffee again!!!! Got to love it! We've been very good going with the iced mochas with sugar free chocolate syrup and no whipped cream. Actually not too bad.

We were invited to Aunt Gail and Uncle Dick's for lunch on Saturday. Both Phil and Missy ended up working so it was Dad, Mom, Mike and me. We got to their house just after 11:30am. Uncle Dick is moving slowly but very happy to be at home! He never ceases to amaze me with his comebacks! We always seem to laugh alot when we're together! Gail had a wonderful lunch for us, which included ham, bean salad, green lettuce salad and I brought potato salad. (I've got to remember to leave out the nacho chiles next time!)
Dick was getting a bit warm- must be the "man"opause!

Mom always seems to get to celebrate her birthday all month long! Aunt Gail made a yummy chocolate bundt cake for her birthday!
Sunday afternoon- Dad, Mom and I met Missy for coffee. After coffee, we dropped Dad back at the house and I took Mom out for a drive in Phil's car. A couple of times when we were coming out of a few parking lots, I gunned it and I could see Mom checking out the speedometer. That little car feels like it is going 80 miles an hour when it is actually only going 45. We had a fun little drive!
Sunday evening- Mike and Missy came over for dinner. We had 3 racks of pork ribs on the grill for dinner. Pretty tasty!!

Dad and Mom Are Here!

Dad and Mom arrived late Saturday night on Allegiant Air. Their direct flight from Grand Rapids was very pleasant and the drive back to our house was less than 10 minutes, even nicer yet. It seems we all enjoyed the new experience flying with Allegiant. We live minutes away from the old Williams Air Force Base which is now called Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport . Thank goodness, at this time, Allegiant is the only airline that has limited flights out of there.

We've been pretty busy since Dad and Mom have arrived. For the two weeks that they will be here, I have taken Mon, Tues and Fri off each week. In a few minutes, we are going over to Gail and Dick's for Saturday lunch. I'll get back on later for those pics. But here are a few pics from this past week:

We start every day with coffee! Dad is black and Mom and I are iced mochas w/sugar free chocolate syrup.

We had lunch the other day at the Farmhouse Grill . It was featured on Food Network last year. In fact, last year when Dad and Mom were out, we were sitting there and Dad looked across the way and said that he recognized someone. Sure enough it was a couple from MI that Dad had worked with. They were out visiting their daughter, who is a teacher out here. What a small world sometimes!

Thursday, Missy picked up Mom and we met for coffee after work.
Thursday, Gail came over and had lunch with Dad and Mom. Dick wasn't able to make that trip.

Gail and Mom
Yesterday, we were all over town. I think that we made maybe 10 stops. One of which was IKEA. We had our fix of swedish meatballs and lingonberry sauce. Their not stingy with the meatballs either, count them "15"!

HGTV is Inspiring!

These pics are from last weekend. Phil's garage project is winding down. A few more final tweeks and that job is finally finished. It's not that Phil has physically worked on this job forever (it took 2weeks) but this job had been started about two years ago. He did the painting trim work and then the job just stalled! I think he lost interest, and then as time goes it's hard to get back motivated again. He was determined to start it on his Christmas vacation and finish it on his vacation. Great job Philip!!!!

Missy started her own project last weekend too! I'm surrounded by weekend warriors!!! She decided to pull up the carpet that goes past her closet door and in front of the bathroom vanity. She also pulled up the flooring in the area with the tub and toilet. By the time Sunday evening rolled around, she was one sore lady! She was also talking about repainting the kitchen brown, but that was for another weekend! ASU starts back up on Tuesday. All four classes are on line this semester so that will save on some wear and tear of her poor car. Going to the ASU West Campus was putting about 100 miles round trip on her car. No wonder her transmission had to be replaced a few months ago!

Mike's new puppy is quite a handful. She is at his ankles biting non stop! And she has such sharp pointy teeth! The joys of puppyhood. We were so spoiled with Casey. I don't remember any issues. It will just take some time and patience!

Mike's a new "Daddy"!

Is that an attention getter Title to a blog or what! Kind of like the lead in to the news! Anyway, let me clarify that and introduce you to Taylor, Mike's new 10 week old little female German Shepherd. Taylor and her brother were found lost in Tucson by Mike's friend Carol. Carol couldn't keep them so they were brought up to Phoenix. Mike took Taylor and Karen's sister will take her brother. Mike stopped by the animal shelter after picking them up today to have them scanned for an identification chip, but none was found. Missy called while Mike was still at our house and found out about Taylor and asked Mike to stay until she could come by to see Taylor. Missy fell in love at first sight. Casey on the other hand did not! It will be interesting to see her reaction when Taylor shoots up bigger than her!

Happy New Year, 2010!

Here is my toast to 2010-

May you realize your fondest dreams and take time to recognize and enjoy each and every blessing.
May this new year be your best with happiness the whole year through! Happy 2010!

****************************************************************************

It's now time to clean out the old and bring in the new. I'm starting by taking down all of the Christmas decorations and tidying them away for next year. They always seem to come down alot quicker than they went up, yea!!!
It's also time to start that long needed diet! Phil and I are starting a no/low carb diet. Lot's of meats, eggs and cheeses. And anything else that has little to no sugar carbohydrates.
