Mike's Professional Opinion!

I asked Mike to come over to take a look at the spa step to see if doing some tile work on the step might be an option for Phil. Phil seems to think that he wants to use the same stuff that came off, which is Pebble Tech. The only problem is that all the pool stores around here only carry the 3# container that he used in the pool. Phil needs alot more than that for the step, probably 10-15#'s. I found a place on line that we can order it from. We paid over $30 for the 3# and on line I can get a 10# for $57. Well that's a no brainer!!!! It will just take a week to get the product to us.

When Mike pops in, it is usually for a quick visit, so wanted to grab a pic of him so everyone doesn't "forget" what he looks like!

This Weekend's Project Is Growing!!!!!

Phil brought the hammer into the spa with him today. Probably not a good idea. He found a loose spot on the first step to the spa and started pounding. As you can see from the pics, the spot grew! Not sure what we're going to do now, either tile the steps or call a pool place to quote patching the pebble tec. The pool stores here, don't carry the size bag Phil needs to patch that big of an area. Stay tuned to the saga!

Hot Weather Is Around The Next Corner!!!!

We are still working off our "To Do List"! It is pretty long. Last month the new air conditioner, this month the pool. We had a pool company come in Friday and swap out the sand in our pool filter for a product called Zeobest. It is supposed to be a much better product and will keep the pool cleaner. When Phil got home yesterday, he started draining the pool into the water run off drain in the water retention park behind us. The guy that did the filter work left the pool water quite a mess and didn't back wash the pool where he was supposed to, so Phil had a real mess! We turned the pump off when we went to bed and then turned it back on this morning. It finally finished draining the 12,000 gal sometime around 2pm. Phil got in there before it was totally drained to start his acid/chlorine wash and his crack repairs. This should be finished sometime tomorrow and then he will start filling it back up. It will probably take twice as long to fill than it did to drain. This is only the second time the pool has been drained in ten years. For those that don't have pools, this is not a yearly maintenance job! Thank goodness for that! While Phil was working his butt off, I slipped out and had coffee with Sandy @ the coffee shop. When I got there, my "barista" said that Missy had been in earlier for her coffee! When Dad and Mom are here in a few weeks, we will be starting most every morning there! Whoopie!! Looking forward to it!!!! Hey Dad and Mom, don't forget your bathing suits!!!!!!!!

Hum-Drum Sunday

Another weekend come and gone! Thursday evening, Phil and I went to the show to see Underworld, Rise of the Lycans. We like vampire movies, not the campy ones, but good made ones! What can I tell you! Talked to Mike, Friday night. He is doing well!

Anyway, Saturday- Valentine's Day, was our 33rd wedding anniversary. I started the day with coffee @ Seattle Espresso with Missy and Pam. Dani was to meet us as well, but I guess over slept. Chris dropped Pam off, so when he was thru getting his truck washed and detailed he came back and visited for awhile as well. After coffee, I went home and readied myself for our CPA appointment @ 1:30pm. Not as bad as I thought. Thank goodness for medical bills and 15% into 401K's. Actually the 401K money is like throwing it into the trash bin and lighting it on fire but it will turn around one of these days- they keep saying anyway!

After the tax appointment we went out for an early quick dinner @ Joe's Farmhouse Grill- highlighted on Guy Fieri's Road Trip show on the Food Network. We ate outside in the beautiful weather of the day! Missy stopped by after she worked her second job and dropped off a card, mum plant and box of chocolate. Yum!

Today, Missy and I met for lunch and then back to our house. She kicked back for awhile here and watched some TV. Phil was out doing some vacuuming of little stones off the patio that came off the patio roof during last weeks rains. More rain is expected on Monday. It was a very nice day today as well, so Phil put a chicken on the rotisserie outside.

Missy can hold her head high..............

After Missy and I left Kristin's shower this afternoon, we swung by Alltel. Missy has been harassed relentlessly by her friends, because of her outdated phone. Now I know some of you out there are in to your I phones, Blackberry's and whatever......... but we are pretty simple minded when it comes to the requirements that we want in a phone. Simple is better, and "free" is better yet!!!! Missy now feels that she can hold her head high with her new "free" pink phone, so she is pretty excited!

This award came in the mail for Missy today. I can't remember if I mentioned in a past blog about Missy's grades for last semester or not. She got a 4.0 GPA her first semester (Junior Year) at ASU. She has been put on the Director's list which is quite an honor. Considering what all happened last year, I think that it is pretty amazing. She is taking a leave of absence this spring semester to heal but will be back at it in the summer. We are very proud of her. She's like the energizer bunny, she just keeps on ticking!

Kristin's Bridal Shower

This morning was Sharon's daughter Kristin's bridal shower. It started at 10:30am and they served a very nice brunch. Sharon's other daughter Jordan was the hostess. Missy and I were at a Pampered Chef party at her place, I think the early part of December. (way before Missy's accident). Jordan made some really good Pampered Chef recipes to serve at the shower. We ended up having a beautiful morning for the party. Kristin and Anthony drove in from CA. Anthony is in the service and is training to be sent off to the middle east somewhere in the fall and Kristin will start nursing school soon. They have the next few years all planned out! Their wedding will be in March.

You Made Us Proud Cardinals- A Team To Be Reckoned With!!!!

We may have lost, but they did us proud! What a great game that was. The last half was a true nail biter!
